 A
native of Floresville, Texas, Linda's
background included owning a ceramic,
arts-and-crafts business and teaching
art in the public school system in
Floresville; teaching communications and
journalism at Incarnate Word college and
Texas Lutheran University; working as a
copy editor at the San Antonio Light;
serving as managing editor at the Canyon
Lakes Times Guardian and freelancing as
a marketing consultant, writer and
graphic designer.
You may know Linda as the former
managing editor of the Canyon Lake Times
Guardian. In October 2003 she left that
position to pursue her love of art and
teaching art, as well as fulfilling her
desire to be ---one again----
self-employed.
In April of 2004, Linda opened Casa de
Linda Art Studio located above the New
Braunfels Art League Gallery in historic
downtown New Braunfels and began to
focus on painting and teaching. Today
her Casa de Linda Art Gallery is open by
appointment and her work is available
online at
www.casadelinda.com.
Currently, Linda works mostly in
acrylics. She paints both traditional
work, such as her series commemorating
the flood at Canyon Lake in 2002 that
created the gorge, and in a unique style
as is seen in her series of contemporary
wildflowers. Her wildflower paintings,
which are frequently exhibited at the
Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and
area galleries, are also being licensed
and will soon be featured on a line of
greeting cards in the UK, New Zealand,
and Australia.
"People say my work is "happy'. That's
so wonderful! I find great pleasure in
knowing that my paintings make people
feel good," she says.
When Linda is not painting and teaching,
she still finds time to freelance as
marketing/PR consultant and writer.
