Winner "Sunset Sails" watercolor by
Carol Wilhelm |
Carole Wilhelm's watercolor, "Sunset Sails" was
announced the winner of the "Making Canyon Lake
Memories" Art Show, a Canyon Lake Art Show held
August at Sattler Artisans' Alley through Labor Day.
Carol's work will be featured on the upcoming cover
of the Discovery Map East Hill Country 3rd Edition
anticipated in Spring of 2008. "I am delighted to
have my painting chosen first place in the Discory
Map Cover Contest. I am sure all the area artists
are as grateful as I am to Sattler Artisans Alley
for sponsoring this art show featuring the beautiful
Canyon Lake area. It will be a thrill to see my
painting on the cover of the 2008 East Hill Country
Discover Map." stated Carol.
The show & reception was open to all Canyon Lake
residents interested. Highlights of the evening
included guitarist, Larry Hobson and was catered by
China King. The winners were determined by judges,
Pat Deltz (of New Braunfels Art League); Fred
Zinkgraf, (also from New Braunfels and with The New
Braunfels Christian Academy); and Richard Caniglia
(formerly an art gallery owner from San Francisco
and currently a resident of Blanco). Taking second
place was "Devil's Playground at the Lazy L on the
Guadalupe" an oil by Barbara Hine and third place
honors were tied with "Vereda Real" an acrylic by
Linda Jacobson and "Catfish" a watercolor by Bonnie
Sue Williams. Wilhelm, Hines, and Jacobson's work is
still currently on display. All pieces are priced to
sell. A portion of the proceeds will benefit two
local organizations: The New Life Children's
Treatment Center Art Dept. and Canyon Lake Area Blue
Star Moms.
